Metallic Leaf

Metallic Leaf

The process of ornamental decoration with metal leaf, gold-like or silver-like, is a technique that dates back to Renaissance art and architecture, where it was used to enhance the details of some elements. A process that still includes the same steps today: our skilled master craftsmen spread the "missione", linseed oil glue, resin and pigments, using a soft brush and then, after a short drying, apply the small sheets on the artifact. Once the excess material has been removed, the decorated part is protected with transparent varnish. Finishing is possible on most of our collections. The treatment is not recommended where there are environmental conditions that can trigger oxidation processes (wet/humid zones or seaside areas) or where a high resistance to rubbing is required.
