Natural leather is a precious raw material and it is normally used for covering sofas and armchairs. It is characterized by a high resistance to penetration and has good aeration and thermoregulation properties. There are leathers of different quality, price and composition. The difference is mainly in the surface treatment and in the various coloring steps. The material with the most natural aspect of all - full grain - is very soft but can have small variations in shades and light veins, not always appreciated by customers. The term eco-leather, on the other hand, indicates a leather tanned with low environmental impact methods. In recent years, leatherette has also be introduced on the market, a coating consisting of a thin layer of polyurethane resin spread on a support in cotton or synthetic fiber.
